Alpari launches web-based MetaTrader 5 platform

14 October, 2016

Alpari, the largest forex broker in Russia, announced it adds a web-based version of the MetaTrader 5 (MT5) platform to offering. As of Monday this week, the broker’s clients are able to access the MT5 directly via their accounts on myAlpari portal, no installation of additional software required.

The web-based MT5 is equipped with all functionalities of the download version, except for autotrading. What is more, there is the added advantage of the option to trade on MT5 from any operating system, including macOS and Linux. The web MT5 platform was released in May this year by its developer, Russian fintech company MetaQuotes.

Along with its predecessor MetaTrader 4 (MT4), MT5 is the most widely-used trading forex platform. Unlike the MT4, the MT5 platform allows execution of orders in several financial markets and stock exchanges through a single trading account. The platform uses MQL5 programming language and allows automated trading, using Expert Advisors (EAs). Recently the platform has undergone several major upgrades and finally features the hedging option, which increased the platform’s popularity among both forex traders and brokers.

Earlier in July, Cyprus-based brokerage launched the MT5 platform equipped with the hedging option.

Apart from MT5, Alpari also supports MT4, and BinaryTrader platforms, all of them available in web, desktop, and mobile versions. Headquartered in Russia and mainly targeting clients from former Soviet Union countries, the broker still does not have a license from the Russian regulator (Bank of Russia). Nonetheless, it has units regulated in Belize, Belarus and UAE
